Sweeten your Summer with Switchel - 3 Simple + Satisfying Recipes

August is here, and while it is sticky and sweltering outside, we are keeping it cool with some refreshing twists on our switchel brews. While our switchels are naturally refreshing on their own, we’ve been in the kitchen experimenting all summer long to bring you some unique options to boost your summer beverage game.

See our simple and satisfying takes on classic summer beverages including your favorite flavor combinations of lemon and mint, orange and lime, and our newest pairing obsession of switchel and sun-ripened berries.  Surprise and impress your friends by using switchel as a base to any of your favorite lakeside concoctions, or give one of our takes on a recipe below.

CLASSIC SWITCHEL PALMER

Serves:1 drink

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 oz. Lavender Lemon Switchel
  • 4 oz. Brewed black tea (try a local favorite, like Empowered Tea)
  • Juice of ½ lemon
  • Ice to serve
  • Lemon slices to garnish
  • Fresh mint (for garnish)
  • Fresh rosemary (for garnish)

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Stovetop brew your favorite black tea, according to package directions. Let cool or refrigerate until set.
  2. Combine all ingredients into a mason jar.
  3. Add ice and stir.
  4. Garnish with lemon slice and herbs (optional).

ZESTY ORANGE SWITCHEL with LIME

INGREDIENTS

  • 3 oz. orange juice
  • 5 oz. Orange Maple Switchel
  • Juice of ½ lime
  • Orange slices
  • Fresh basil (for garnish)

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Combine all ingredients in a copper mug (or any glass).
  2. Add ice and stir.
  3. Garnish with orange slice and basil (optional).

 

BLACKBERRY MINT LEMON SWITCHEL

Serves:1 drink

INGREDIENTS

  • 3 oz. orange juice
  • 5 oz. Lavender Lemon Switchel
  • ¼ cup blackberries
  • 1 tbsp. maple syrup
  • Juice of ½ lemon
  • 2 fresh mint leaves
  • 2 fresh lemon verbena leaves or lemon balm
  • Optional: fresh basil (for garnish)

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.
  2. Strain through mesh bag or fine strainer.
  3. Refrigerate for 15 - 20 minutes to set the flavor.
  4. Add ice and serve in a mason jar!
